"Captain, we have an unauthorised launch from the shuttle bay. Its Kalthiak."
"What the hell? Harry, get a tractor beam on that ship."
"I can't. She's put up some sort of force field Captain, and she's using Borg algorithms to scramble the signal."
"Damn! Seven of Nine to the bridge...Tuvok, where the hell is Seven?"
"Ma'am, I'm reading two life signs on that ship. One of them is Borg."
"Torres to the Bridge."
"Yes B'Elanna."
"Captain, the Doctor is missing. In fact, the whole EMH database is missing."
"Mr Tuvok, ready photon torpedoes. Target the..."
"I'm sorry Captain. They have gone to warp speed."
"Damn that bitch!"
Chakotay cast a startled glance at his Captain. He had never heard her shout like that before.
"Lt. Torres."
"Yes, Ma'am."
"Lieutenant, Kalthiak has left the ship and it seems she has taken Seven with her."
As the silence lengthened Chakotay frowned and wondered, not for the first time, if there was something going on that he was obviously missing. "Harry, can we track the trans warp signal?"
"Yes sir but only for about 500 000 miles. After that...well..."
"Captain."
"Yes, B'Elanna."
"That should give us plenty of time."
"Lieutenant?"
"Umm, well...I made a few adjustments to the Trans Warp Coil that I forgot to tell Kalthiak about. Her ship should drop out of warp after about, let's see, say...25 minutes of operation."
Janeway was unable to hide the huge grin that spread across her face. "You heard the woman Tom. Set a pursuit course, maximum warp. Oh, and B'Elanna...?"
"Yes, Ma'am, I know. I need to brush up on Starfleet protocols."
"And don't think I'm not going to hold you to that. Chakotay, I'll be in engineering. Keep me posted."
"Yes, Ma'am." Mmm, definitely something going on here.
